Responsibilities of the Facility Management Department
The Columbia County Commissioners combined the Columbia County Maintenance Department and the Special Projects Department and created the Facility Management Department.
The Columbia County Facility Management Department is responsible for all repairs and maintenance of all county buildings, building projects as seen fit, remodeling buildings, janitorial on some buildings changing HVAC filters on all buildings we also have daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. We keep and maintain records on the departments trucks, tools, and buildings. The buildings we clean are on a schedule.
The buildings we do janitorial duties on are: The main courthouse, courthouse annex, landfill, public works, extension office, victim abuse, Montgomery building, and the new 911 center.
The list of buildings we maintain are: The main courthouse, courthouse annex, Montgomery building, public library, Ft. White library, patrol division on Franklin St., Columbia county detention center, public works department, Winfield solid waste, Tourist development, new 911 center, 7 volunteer fire departments( Deep creek, Suwannee Valley, West Columbia, Columbia City, Ellisville, South Columbia, and Lulu VFD’s), 5 community centers (Lulu, Mason City, Winfield, Ft. White and Springville Centers.),Milton building, EMS stations 1&2, extension office.
